Visual imagery is one of the key elements that stimulate the emotional senses. The premier destinations of Ontario are fuelled by the experiences within those places (i.e. fall colours in the Agawa Canyon) but without relevant images to capture the sense of place -- Ontario can't capitalize on its competitive advantages. Creative writing can only draw us so far to a place -- dynamic visuals will put us there and allow our imagination to take it from there.
These digital media workshops will develop an understanding of images as a communication medium for marketing tourism. We will not only provide the 'how to' but also work to develop an appreciation for the impact that images have on marketing tourism experiences. This workshop will be for the tourism operators and marketers seeking a better understanding of and more control in using images to market their experiences.
Making It Local: We will work to maintain a context that is relevant to tourism business and organizations in Northern Ontario. We will encourage participants to highlight their area’s unique tourism strengths in an effort to determine their competitive advantage.
